I'm in hibernation again.  Trying not to go blind.  On some really nasty medicine.  Catch up again here some day. :salute:

Do you know, when you dream something sweet and joyful, and then you wake up?  And what's left is sorrow, for the loss of something that never existed.  =_= This state of existence, I do not like it.  It is not that my days are sad in these times, I think, but simply that they do not contain joys bright enough to contrast with insubstantial dreams.

Anyway, still muddling along.
Hope all of you are well, having happy times and contented ones.

Some good things, some bad things lately.  I have had a really frustrating number of "bad days" this summer.  On the other hand I also had a couple design projects that went pretty well... (considering that it only took 5 revisions on the one that was mostly colored squares. Ah hah...ha.. seriously, recoloring 84 graphics on every revision, so glad they were simple.) But I got paid! So that's what counts ;).

I am guilty of procrastinating on all my personal projects, been putting those bits of energy into things like keeping up on dishes, keeping in contact with other human beings, life, and stuff.

Anyway, if you have something fun you'd like to see drawn, let me know, I wouldn't mind shaking off a bit of dust.
Edit: I reached the bottom of the stack! I didn't comment on everything, or even most things.. but at least I feel caught up, even if it's only for this one minute. ^_^'

Slowly working my way through the deviation piles. I basically removed everyone that I didn't recall ever speaking with, the admiration from an unknown distance ones, and now I'm going through the ones where people talked once.  So it's taking awhile.

Life's kind of unbearably solitary right now.
I've lost that elusive spark somewhere.

Still not up to much. Maybe I'll get back to drawing this year... after surviving, remodeling, moving.. uh, wait, where's the sleep for a month schedule... must have left it around here somewhere.

Er.. how many thousands of messages and deviations.. um... >_> sorry guys, not going to get caught up this time.

I peeked out of my cave (blankets whatever) and crawled out into the world. Saw Kites and Crows at the Silvermoon Brewery tonight. It was a duo performance, but they went through a number of instruments, guitar, harmonica, banjo, accordian, xylaphone. Sweet voices. Very cool.

Hope all is well with everyone else, because I sure haven't been keeping up on reading journal posts or anything myself. ^^;

If you can call it that?

So weirdly, in the last few days, several people have asked me if I'm on facebook, which, I've had a log in, but never filled anything out, so... I've gone and filled some stuff out.  Just a bit.  Now what?

All you facebook experts.. guide me? :worship:

*************************************************
I'm sure you've read these questions a thousand times, but, if I put together an art book, would any of you consider buying it?
:painter:

Have you ever done one yourself?  I guess it comes back to the question CaseyPalmer asked me quite some time ago "What are you going to do with all these fantasy pictures?"  I still don't know.
:gallery:

Have you ever bought one?  I bought my dad several Frank Kelly Freas art books last christmas, but he's a famous professional associated with many interesting stories through cover work, so I think that sort of art book is not the same as a private collection ^_^.  Though they were interesting to read, the comments from the artist reminded me very strongly of DA.
:deviation:

Anyway, what do you think on the subject? Please tell me.
:?

In a fit of overwhelming lazy... er... I mean, in the hope of getting a fresh start on things and keeping up for awhile...  I deleted everything.  :paranoid: So if I missed something I was supposed to see in particular, I'm sorry. :worship:

 SNOW SNOW SNOW...... I want snow, I want to go sledding, skiing, make snowmen! I have my snowboots and gloves all ready.

Well, I guess it's just as well, since my stamina isn't very high right now, but still, we've had storms all week, but only a few non-sticky flakes have fallen in town. :sniff:

The husband :zombie: abandoned ship when the weekend hit (as usual) to go kill zombies (xbox) with his friends.  I crawled out to listen to another band, this time "Freak Mountain Ramblers".  They were very good. :salute:  It's lovely to see experts at work, and I liked the eclectic mix of styles.  It was an eclectic mix of crowd as well, I claimed a chair early on, and found myself rubbing elbows with young adults and white haired seniors while we watched people try to dance without turning it into a mosh pit. :giggle:

Looks a bit interesting.

Color my drawings. (Many have line forms still in scraps)
Recolor or modify the ones I've painted that were my drawings.
In whole or in part is fine, whatever you want.

It'd be nice if you mentioned me whenever posting the result. ;)

Regarding the future of my artwork... ... well, the whole selling it thing is not going well since I really haven't got the energy to chase opportunities down and sit on them.  Nor has anyone professed any interest in being my representative.  Being more sickly this year has been rather depressing, and I've pondered posting up things that I did for my own interest as full size for free on my web site.  At least then it'd be out there in the world?  I have to decide what to do about hosting again next year anyway, so there will be changes coming up either way.

Can't change the mood on the journal :meditation:.  Odd.  Maybe a browser conflict?

I love all musicians.

Wed Dec 5, 2007, 10:00 AM

I'm still or again feeling quite sickly.  Dug out a mix of bagpipes and steel guitars and generally songs that go thrumming through your body and played them too loud (poor neighbors.)  I wish I were well enough to go see something performed live.

Since my thinking capacity and multitasking abilities have been reduced, music has been one of the things trimmed away from my life, not that I never listen to it, but it's now reduced to times when I only listen to music or watch something with music, instead of being something I listen to while I do other things.

I like all kinds of music, I think I'm a melody person, instead of rythymn or particular style. Except jazz.. I love live jazz, but recorded jazz makes my teeth hurt.  Well.. I like softer things in general, I guess, there are some rap songs and some hard rock songs I love, but many others are too noisy for me to hear the tune if there is one.

Anyway, I love all of you musicians out there, the incredible or the mediocre, I can't imagine living without songs.  I want to sing, or play, or listen.

Night and Day

You know those nights when you look up from painting and it's morning?  One of those

The part no one knows how to answer...
Need Representative

I need someone who can make contacts, who can keep website submissions up to date, who can remember when it's been more than 6 weeks since contacting a publisher and it's time to send another letter or call again.

I would like to work with someone who could put me in the way of children's book artwork, work that encourages people, or find homes for previously finished works.  Someone who likes talking to people.

What I can do: :painter: Draw/paint/illustrate approximately 10 hours a week.  Keep you updated on my progress. :salute: Rework things that don't work for people who would like commissions without angsting (too much) over changes to "my" image. Expect 50% of any profit, after all, my work isn't doing much  besides hanging around cluttering walls and dvds.

What I can't do: Go places much.  Remember things very well (I can read though. =p)  Stay healthy and active very long at a time, so while I can usually say I'll do this piece within a week, I can't say I'll do it by tommorrow. :(

If you know anyone, or know anyone who might know anyone, please point them my way. :thanks:

Thank you.

:blahblah: I haven't been doing enough chatting or talking with people.  Hopefully my friends are moving along through life happily. :fingerscrossed:

Projects:

:painter: Set up hp pavilion dv6325us with Ubuntu 7.04 for 64bit AMD and Intel computers after contacting tech support about how it crashed so hard that sometimes even its Vista blue screens of death would crash to unreadability.  After about 2 hours they had given me a series of tests to do and instructions on reseating the memory.  (I won't go into the details of the preceding two hours, suffice to say, for once I was not impressed with HP support.) The tests all came back fine, Vista was still Vista, crashes sometimes if you close the lid during shutdown and it tries to go to sleep at the same time (even if you tell it not to) and other fun tricks, and they don't provide downgrades or upgrades for Windows, so... on to Linux based systems, I'll miss some of my games.  That's about it.

:writersblock: The details: To boot the install cd I had to interupt the startup by pressing F6 and adding " noapic nolapic" which I got from wiki.ubuntu.com/hp_dv6000_seri… but my computer hasn't got quite all the fancy stuff they had. After that the install ran perfectly smoothly.  On first boot I discovered that the wireless wasn't working, I spent a long time looking for the right set of drivers, finally these instructions at help.ubuntu.com/community/Wifi… worked. I had downloaded the driver onto another machine and copied it over, so I skipped that step.  And I feel ZERO guilt about using a windows driver, least they can do for selling a system that crashes it's own crash catching system.  Everything else seems to work fine, all the media buttons, and even most of the remote buttons. Card reader reads, usb detects.  I haven't written a dvd yet.  I had a bit of trouble figuring out dual monitors, I don't think the x driver it defaulted to was quite right, because it cloned just fine right up until the window manager started :p.  I wound up using Envy albertomilone.com/nvidia_scrip… . I did install the restricted movie codecs help.ubuntu.com/community/Rest… .  Again, I read that it's possibly illegal to install them where I am, but I bought a computer with the software from these companies pre-installed to read dvds I have already purchased.  It's not my fault they partnered with Microsoft.

:slamhead: Because of it's newfangled 64 instead of 86 based architecture I had a bit more trouble when I got to the internet.  Well, when I wanted to get fancy and run java games and watch flash video :) help.ubuntu.com/7.04/internet/… worked for Java, for flash I wound up using a script from ubuntuforums.org/showthread.ph… (the one that says flash only).  I tried many other things for each, starting with the official documentation, but these are the ones that worked.

Oh yeah, and I told Gimp that my Wacom pen was a screen stylus so I can use all it's pressure sensitivy ;).
